DelMontis is een muzikaal verbond tussen zanger/pianist Frank Montis (oa. Laura Vane & The Vipertones) en saxofonist/arrangeur Rolf Delfos (oa. The Houdini’s). Beide heren leerden elkaar kennen via samenwerking in de Nu-Jazz formatie The Jazzinvaders en al snel ontstonden de plannen voor DelMontis.
Aangevuld tot een sextet met klasse musici van allerlei pluimage ontstond er een mix van de songs van Montis en de horns van Delfos waarbij alles draait om een uitgebalanceerde combinatie van vette grooves, transparante songs en muzikale vrijheid. De release van het debuutalbum staat in het voorjaar van 2011 gepland.

Drawn together from both sides of the North Sea, Laura Vane & The Vipertones are a new (although most likely already familiar) group consisting of musicians from various Dutch & UK projects, pooling their respective skills together for this remarkably traditional funk & soul mission. From Holland (Dordrecht near Rotterdam) Phil Martin & Ton van der Kolk (AIFF, Soul Snatchers, Jazzinvaders, Unique Records) provide instrumental elegance and have obvious talent for developing the grooves and beats fired over the internet from the relentless Jonathan Radford (Diesler/Burnley near Manchester, UK). Finally the music, in its rawest form, resides temporarily with Laura Vane (Miss honey-over-sandpaper tones/Brighton, UK) who locks herself away from the modern world to work on the sweet vocals and inspired lyrics.
With their successful first 7” release ‘Steam' and debut single ‘Am I Dreaming?' already sending ripples through the European funk & soul community in early 2009, Laura Vane and The Vipertones debut album has now exploded with a big bang on the scene! Adding to that the success of the ‘Roof Off Remixes EP’, which came out late summer 2009, they are treading the same path as many respected artists and groups before them. Playing intimate half-lit hot-spots in the hearts of many cities, to crowds of thousands at festivals, this band is ready!
Their remarkable introductory album has dance-floor funk and steamy soul tunes, and delivers honest and passionate songs. The album is retro and contemporary in equal measure, which keeps the sound fresh and exciting. Support for this new band has come from all angles, from online bloggers and music forums all across Europe. From the Netherlands Radio 6 and respected dj’s like Giel Beelen and Gerard Ekdom, to BBC Radio dj's such as Jonathan Ross, Mark Lamarr and Craig Charles in the UK. With continued support across the globe on radio and television, Laura Vane & The Vipertones are quickly becoming a seriously infectious sound and one of the must see’s for 2010.
Laura and the band are gathering an unstoppable momentum with a handful of choice gigs such as iJazz in Amsterdam, Moods in Zurich, The Unique Soul Weekender in Cologne and most recently they played to their biggest audience at WOMAD festival in Las Palmas, which was covered by the international press and a huge success. The band have many live dates throughout 2010 and are keen to keep releasing quality material in order to satisfy what is already becoming a very loyal and powerful fan base.
Laura Vane & The Vipertones are also currently working on some remixes, throwing a net over key players in the scene and pulling them closer for new and individual takes on their songs. The Part Time Heroes, Diesler, AIFF and Drawbar are all part of the ‘remix family’ with a contribution from Herbaliser to add.

The Soul Snatchers pakken het publiek bij de lurven Echte soul zal nooit vergaan. Dat bewijzen de muzikanten van The Soul Snatchers keer op keer als ze hun tijdloze down-to-earth Funk en Soul spelen met als de vette jaren '60 en '70 als onmiskenbare inspiratiebron. The Soul Snatchers zijn geen standaard soulcoverband maar brengen pure soul voor de liefhebber en zo aanstekelijk dat ook het grote publiek meteen bij de spreekwoordelijke lurven gepakt wordt. Met hun mix van onbekende klassiekers en eigenwerk pretenderen The Soul Snatchers niet de soul te hebben uitgevonden, evenmin proberen ze hem opnieuw uit te vinden; ze hebben hem... en ze willen hem maar al te graag delen!
De ritmesectie van heavy drums en bonkende bas legt de solide basis waarop het gorgelende Hammond-orgel en de galmende gitaar de kortste weg naar je ziel weten te vinden. Voeg daar nog aan toe de driekoppige blazerssectie The Dynamite Horns, de opzwepende performances van de charismatische zanger Curtis T. en special guest Jimi Bell Martin, en alle ingrediënten voor een echte soul party zijn aanwezig.
In het najaar van 2006 verscheen hun eerste 7" vinyl single op het Social Beats-label, getiteld "Sniffin' & Snatchin'". Het kleine schijfje vond gretig aftrek en werd opgepikt door deejays als Keb Darge, Henry Storch, Andy Smith, Kenny Dope, Soul Rabbi en Paul Weller. Al snel moest er worden bijgeperst. Tevens verschenen de Soul Snatchers op enkele compilatie-albums van o.a. Recordkicks (Various Soul Shakers vol. 3), Freestyle Records (Stay on the Groove vol. 2) en Unique Records (New Testament of Funk vol. 5).
In september 2007 verschijnt de tweede single op 7" vinyl met de Nederlandse soulzanger Jimi Bellmartin. Jimi bestormde begin jaren '70 met funky nummers als 'So Fine' en 'Moviestar' de hitlijsten en stond zelfs in Zuid Amerika wekenlang een no. 1. De afgelopen decennia toerde hij met mensen als Eric Burdon (The Animals), Percy Sledge en Lou Rawls maar met de in 2005 verschenen cd ˜Dutch Rare Groove" stond Jimi weer in de spotlights met zijn oude soulwerk. Afgelopen jaar tourde hij langs de grote podia om samen met o.a. Oscar Harris, Peter Smidt en Louis Debeij de meest funky en soulvolle Nederlandse hits van de jaren '70 ten gehore te brengen, en met succes!
In januari 2008 verschijnt het debuutalbum van de The Soul Snatchers getiteld "Sniffin' & Snatchin'". De release verschijnt wereldwijd op het Social Beats label. Japan wordt getrakteerd op een speciale editie van het album. Een twaalftal korte en krachtige soul liedjes - waar de oude sixties sound vanaf spat - zorgen voor een album met een echte LP lengte. Niet voor niets zal het album, dat voornamelijk eigen werk bevat, dan ook verschijnen op lekker knisperend vinyl.
In augustus 2009 verschijnt - als voorproefje op het 2e album - de derde 7" op Social Beats/Unique. Muzikale opgewektheid viert de boventoon op hun nieuwe single. De Motown beat van “Good and Plenty” beweegt zelfs bij de grootste zuurpruim de mondhoeken spontaan in opwaartse richting. De band komt na het succesvolle album opnieuw sterk uit de hoek met hun verder verfijnde sixties soul sound en groove. De muziek is speels, gedreven, oprecht en geïnspireerd. De ritmesectie klinkt nergens geforceerd, de blazers spelen vanuit hun tenen en zanger Curtis T. bewijst opnieuw een van de fijnste hedendaagse soulzangers van Nederland te zijn. De B-kant van deze single is zeker geen B keuze. Met het bezielde funky nummer “Soul to Soul” - waarop Soulman van eigen bodem Jimi Bellmartin opnieuw schittert - laat de sympathieke negenmans formatie horen niet verlegen te zitten om goede ideeën. The Soul Snatchers tonen eens te meer aan te weten hoe je authentieke funk brengt.
Soul Revue Live Live brengen The Soul Snatchers een anderhalf uur durende spetterende show. Tijdens deze show worden hammond en blazers instrumentals afgewisseld door vocale songs, gebracht door diverse vocalisten. Dit alles geïnspireerd op de authentieke Soul Revues zoals die in de jaren '60 werden gebracht door legendarische labels als Stax en Motown.

Sniffin' And Scratchin' (Social Beats)
Although this has apparently been around a little while, we haven't seen it in the UK (at least I haven't, and I'm meant to be on top of it all!). After two killer 45 releases so far, this Dutch Funk outfit have delivered a superb album, and so I'm not surprised that they are so rated. I've not had the honour of seeing them live yet but, although it sounds like it was recorded in the vintage way (on tape) the production is actually very modern sounding. It is a lot heftier in the 'bass and drums' department which will, without doubt, cross them over to the Hip Hop crowd too. Personally, I'm not bothered whether it sounds modern or not, as long as it's got the Funk. Does it? Certainly. And then some....... The album is varied in styles too with some rhythm and blues and ballads ('Ask For Love' feat. Yo Yo - excellent!), and from a Funk perspective there are even more treats than just the previously-released 45's (already classics, by the way) - especially the Funky Soul of 'Who Told You' (again) featuring Yo Yo, which is the highlight of an already great album.
